Last November I stopped by the big Macy's Parade Balloon Inflation on the Upper West Side, by the Museum of Natural History!
I got to share an intimate evening with some very sweet Lite FM Listeners.
We shared stories, shared some good food and got to know eachother.
I joined Helen Little at Wollman Rink for "Skating In Central Park."
What a great day, and such wonderful Winter Scene in NewYork!
Keep warm everyone!
Years ago I stumbled across this little book that talked about ‘balcony people,’ the people who cheer us on no matter what. They are there for us to encourage us and lift us up. Those people seem to have it easy because they probably do! When you have a good attitude it’s easier to see the good in everything. When you cheer people on, people return the favor.
Then there are ‘basement people’ who try to pull us down with their negativity, telling us we’re not good enough, smart enough or that we’ll never make it. You have to get away from those kind of people. If you can’t get away from those people because they’re our family, shut your ears to it and don’t let it define who you are. Don’t let anyone steal your joy or your hope.
The flip side of that is learning what kind of person are you to others. Do you encourage others? Do you uplift people who doubt themselves? Do you help others overcome their fears? Do you motivate people to use their talents and chase their dreams? Where do you fall – in the balcony or in the basement?
Here’s an idea, come down from the balcony or up from the basement to the sideline and cheer people on by their side. More people need cheerleaders. Even when you feel like you need to be a voice of reason, do it in such a way that sheds a positive light on the person or the situation. Uplift, motivate, encourage. Remember those three words when you talk to your loved ones. And they will remember your love always. Just a thought...
