Pascale shared that Pure & Simple is much more than a cookbook, it is a cookbook with a philosophy! The author views regular cookbooks as 'too narrow', claiming they are only about recipes, nothing else. Pascale's book is different because it includes anecdotes about different recipes and how they connect to people, food, nature, culture, and one's health. Pure & Simple also dives in to Pascale's life as a model and how she got into healthy gourmet cooking after struggling with her food habits after working in the modeling industry for several years.
